Wash Park, as it is lovingly called in and around Denver, is the crown jewel of the Denver Park system.
The park covers over 165 acres of land in the center of Denver.
This park seems to always have people walking , biking, running, playing with dogs, playing tennis,
shooting hoops, serious summer volleyball tournaments, kids fishing in the lily pond, clubs doing
tai chi under the canopy of the large trees and so much more.
As I mentioned in the video, Washington Park has a lawn bowling/croquet club and it is fun to see
the players dressed in white from head to toe during the summer months. Park activity is steady
year round due to winter temps that can be in the 50-70 degree range with sunny skies
in Mid-January (believe it or not).
The office for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado is located on the north end of the park.
This wonderful organization is dedicated to creating and maintaining Colorado’s beautiful trail and park system.
If you are new to Denver it is an easy and fun way to meet new people while enjoying the Colorado mountains or
plains. Personally, I have a soft spot in my heart for this organizaation and it’s founder, Dos Chappell
because he helped me get my first job when I moved to Denver.
