Meet Jennifer Pollock

I am an Ohio native (Elyria to be exact) who moved to Denver in the spring of 1993.  I fell  immediately in love with the people and the weather that Denver offers.  Being from Ohio, it was nice to escape from the cold of northern Ohio and temps in the lower numbers to Colorado where we have days in the high 50′s in the middle of winter and lots of sunshine.  Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio I grew up loving the Cleveland Browns and Ohio sports teams in general.   I must admit that it is hard for me to be a Broncos fan most days.

I am a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a major in Marketing and a B.S. in business.  My marketing background comes in very useful for designing creative ways to market my client’s homes in print and online marketing avenues.  After college I moved to Naples, Florida where I interned at a small environmental organization, The Conservancy. My role at The Conservancy involved promoting the cultural/museum activities to tourism centers around Naples to increase visitors.  I loved the job and the perks of living near the ocean were not too bad either.

After my short six month internship in Florida, I boarded a plane to S. America to work for the next 2  yrs. as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay. I was assigned to live in a small southern town called Carmen del Parana in the Itapua province.  It was a fantastic two years working to promote a local agricultural co-oop to the farmers in the surrounding cities.  I learned to speak Spanish as part of my experience and I am still able to communicate very well in my second language.

After living in Paraguay for 2 years and 3 months, I took my Peace Corps stipend and traveled through S.America on my own for 1 full year.  It was an amazing journey through Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador.  I have fond memories of riding on many buses filled with chickens and children.  I met many friends and travelers on my one year solo journey and luckily survived many crazy travel choices. Some of these travel choices included the following…

1. Hitchhiking with two Bolivian Truck Drivers  from Arica, Chile to La Paz, Bolivia by myself  (not highly recommended unless you have good Spanish skills.   The Spanish speaking skills are needed to  keep reminding them you have parents who worry about you and other conversations revolving around their own families.   These conversations can make them think about what it would be like for them to have their own children aimlessly wandering around a foreign country relying on the goodness of strangers.  If my mom reads this she might just faint as I have never told her I did this.)

2. Crossing a raging river with only a flour sack tied around my bottom, hooked onto a rusty pulley while  dangling over 100 ft in the air praying I make it alive to the other side (miracles do happen).

3.  Sleeping in a bordello in the red light district of Santiago, Chile ( this was accomplished due to pure exhaustion from enduring a 60 hr.+ bus ride from Asuncion, Paraguay into Santiago, Chile where I didn’t get a wink of sleep).

After all this solo traveling,  I returned to the good old USA and packed my bags for Colorado.  I began my life in Denver, Colorado living in a big, old victorian style home on 6th and Ogden where I immediately fell in love with Denver.  Since moving to Denver, I have watched this city grow up  in many different ways.  New museums, lofts, the revitalization of Lodo, the creation of Riverfront park and the build out of the bike paths and RTD’s light rail system.  I know that Denver will keep surprising me along the way and that is why I love this city and want to share it with all my friends and clients.

I have worked as a Realtor since 2002 and absolutely love what I do.  Since my very first year in the business I have been a top producing agent with Keller Williams Realty.  I love selling older homes as I understand their charms and challenges.  I have garnered the top certification of the CRS  (Certified Residential Specialist) designation.  Basically obtaining the CRS is equivalent to obtaining a degree from Harvard. It is the certification that recognizes excellence in the real estate industry. I obtained this designation so that I can offer my clients the most innovative programs available to my home buyers and sellers.

Feel free to contact me, Jennifer Pollock, with any real estate related question or need.  I am here to help. I am a member in good standing with the NAR (National Association of Realtors), CAR (Colorado Association of Realtors) and DBR (Denver Board of Realtors).

Enjoy the blog and come back often to visit or make a comments.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Pollock, CRS
